Basis

Basis is an IOU. A tracker remembers who owes whom, and that list is not on the chain. Collateral, when someone locked it, sits in a lockbox: ERG or a token on the owner's key. The lockbox points at the tracker's box. That box holds a fingerprint of the list, not the debts. ErgoScan shows the lockboxes and does not run a tracker.
